SocoTrades

Privacy notice

Draft for review. Details of how the live verification service handles data are pending confirmation.

This draft notice describes how the SocoTrades website and the current version of the app handle information.

Who is responsible for your data

So & Co Enterprises Limited operates SocoTrades and is responsible for the personal information it handles. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 08379988. Our registered office is First Floor North, 40 Oxford Road, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England, HP11 2EE.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email team@socoprojects.co.uk or write to our registered office.

Visiting the website

The website delivers public pages from an AWS server. The server receives information needed to respond to your request, such as your IP address and the page requested. The site has no analytics, advertising trackers or cookies.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your name, selected trades, qualifications, certifications, optional business and registration details, verification results and preferences on your device using its secure storage. You can edit your profile in the app. SocoTrades uses the profile to show the details and preferences you choose to save.

Business register checks

When you request a check, the app sends the relevant search term, company number or VAT number through the SocoTrades verification service to Companies House or HMRC. Companies House also supplies public appointment information, including whether an identity verification statement is on record. These requests are used to look up and display the records you ask for.

Optional identity verification

If identity verification is available and you choose to start it, Stripe collects your passport or driving licence and selfie on its hosted page. Stripe compares your selfie with your ID photo using biometric information. Stripe explains the choices and permissions for that check during its flow. The app stores the session reference, a token used to check its status, and the result. The app itself does not capture or store your ID images or selfie. Authorised users of the Stripe account may be able to access verification data in Stripe.

See Stripe’s privacy policy and Stripe’s guidance on accessing and deleting verification information.

Keeping your information

Profile information is held in secure storage on your device while you use the app. Device and operating system settings affect when locally stored information is removed. Information Stripe holds for verification is managed separately from the app.

Your rights

Depending on how your data is used, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your information, and to object to its use. Where consent is the basis for a use of your data, you can withdraw that consent. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
